Introduction to
Sway Balance

Sway Balance allows medical professionals to screen for fall risk, track instability related to orthopedic injury throughout rehabilitation, screen for symptoms of concussion on the sideline of sporting events, or simply to monitor balance following medication changes. Sway can also be prescribed by a qualified medical professional for at-home use!

Mobility

Sway connects physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers to the patient to improve communication and deliver measureable outcomes. Sway revolutionizes telemedicine and will lead the healthcare industry in an outcomes-focused model.

How does it work?

Proprietary algorithms leverage the motion sensors in your mobile device to analyze postural sway.

Just press the device against your chest

The user simply presses the mobile device against their chest and performs the prescribed protocol.

Step 1. Stable Stance

A simple 10 second test of a stable standing position performed with eyes closed.

Step 2. Tandem Stance

A slightly more difficult test; standing with feet in tandem, or heel to toe performed with eyes open. Alternate foot position and perform a second trial.

Step 3. Single Foot Stance

An advanced balance test; simply lift the right foot and attempt to maintain balance. Complete a second trial lifting the left foot.

Results

The Balance Score provides a stability index to quickly evaluate total stability using a 100-point scale. With an established baseline, users can quickly detect changes in stability or compare to normative data to establish relative stability.
